In the current commercial mobile phone wireless charging field, the Qi standard of WPC alliance occupies an absolute advantage. As of August, 628 companies around the world have joined Qi members, including apple, Samsung, LG, Haier and other international well-known enterprises.

"Qi" logo belongs to WPC alliance. If it is used on wireless charging products, the WPC's authorization should be obtained first. If it is used without authorization, it will be punished by WPC or the product will be taken off the shelf. In addition, after the wireless charging products have passed the Qi certification, the indicators meet the requirements of Qi standards, which is also the guarantee of the quality of the products themselves. Consumers who have passed the Qi certification are obviously safer and more reliable than those who have not.

To apply for Qi certification for a product, the company first needs to register as a WPC member and pay membership fees. The members include small business members, ordinary members, fully qualified members and founding members. Different members pay different membership fees and have different rights

After the company applies for WPC membership and pays the annual fee, it can apply for the authorization of "Qi" logo. The corresponding documents of the company will be sent to Qi headquarters, and the authorization can be obtained after the approval.

At the same time of authorization, five prototype machines with normal functions (wireless charging solutions that can pass Qi certification, such as NXP, xuxinsheng, Lingyang, Yicheng, etc.) can be prepared and sent to the domestic Certification Laboratories designated by WPC, such as anzheng, SGS, prosess, etc., and the solution company and customers fill in the corresponding product model, WPC member name and certification type. According to different load power, certified products are divided into BPP (base power profile) and EPP (extended power profile). BPP covers products with output power less than or equal to 5W, and EPP includes products with output power greater than 5W to 30W. After that, we will pay the test fee. The BPP certification fee of domestic certification laboratory is generally RMB 25000-30000, and the EPP certification fee is about 150000 RMB.

1. Compliance testing
At present, ATL (Authorized Test Lab) has many choices in China. At least five prototypes will be sent for testing, one of which will be arranged for compliance test first, and the compliance test samples will be retained in ATL after passing the test
A. Timing of communication protocol between transmitter and receiver;
B. The output power is tested by the translation of XYZ axis;
C. The maximum supply capacity of energy transmission;
D. FOD (foreign object detection)

2. Compatibility test
There are only two IOC (interoperability test centers) in the world, which are located in Belgium in Europe and Korea in Asia.
After passing the compliance test, ATL will divide the other four prototypes into two groups and send them to the laboratories in Belgium and South Korea respectively for compatibility test projects. Two samples will be left in the main IOC laboratory and the other two will be left in the auxiliary IOC laboratory. After the compatibility test of IOC laboratory is completed, the inspection party can execute the action of "confirm completion" on the official website, and the product will be included in the official website of WPC. Enter the official website and enter the product ID number to query. The tested products will be stored on the test bed.
According to WPC's requirements, all test samples need to be tested for compatibility with all previously certified samples. For example, if the tested product is a wireless charging transmitter, it needs to conduct compatibility test with all receivers (including mobile phones) that have passed the Qi certification of WPC. According to the Qi test process, the products to be tested should be sent for compatibility test after the conformity test is passed. If the compatibility test fails, the samples need to be taken back for rectification. After the rectification, it can not be sent directly for compatibility test, but need to retest the compliance test and compatibility test.

According to the normal test time calculation, if there are no failure items, the test items can pass all the test items at one time, and the required time is 4-5 weeks, plus some turnover time, so the general certification cycle is about 1.5-2 months.

According to WPC's data, taking November, the peak period of certification in 2017 as an example, nearly 30% of the tested products failed in the first compatibility test, while the first failure rate of EPP test samples was as high as 61.5%. Even though BPP test, which has been relatively common, still has a failure rate of nearly 20%.

Therefore, choosing the right scheme before product development is of great help to the subsequent certification. Through continuous updating and optimization, xuxinsheng wireless charging scheme has greatly improved the passing rate of BPP certification.
