Introduction to certification
South Korea's Ministry of knowledge economy (mke) announced on August 25, 2008 that the National Standards Committee of South Korea will implement a new national unified logo, namely "KC" logo, from July 2009 to December 2010. "KC" logo means "Korea certification". KC certification is the safety certification system of electronic and electrical appliances in South Korea. It is a compulsory safety certification system implemented by Kats on January 1, 2009 according to the electrical applications safety control act.
In order to avoid duplicate certification, since July 1, 2012, EMC and safety are separately managed. For electronic and electrical products applying for South Korea certification, KC certificate and KCC Certificate (New MSIP) must be obtained respectively for safety and EMC requirements. There are two KC certification bodies: KTC (Korea testing certification) and KTL (Korea Electrical Testing Institute). These two are not only KC certification institutions, but also qualification testing laboratories.
In terms of safety standards, all products entering the Korean market must comply with the K standard of Korean safety standard (similar to IEC standard). The use of IEC standards must meet the requirements of South Korea. National differences can be found in the announcement in the CB system of IECEE. In terms of EMC, Korean EMI standards are similar to CISPR standards and EMS standards are similar to EN standards.
Classification of certification system
Korean KC certification is divided into“ KC Safety ”、 “ KC EMC and RF ”And “ MEPS ” (1) KC safety In order to prevent the safety accidents of consumers such as electric shock and fire, the safety management system of electrical appliances is carried out. Only the confirmed products are allowed to leave the factory and sell. According to the requirements of the latest safety management law of electrical appliances, KC safety certification is divided into three categories according to different hazard levels of products ·Safety certification · Self regulatory safety confirmation
· Supplier self validation (SDoC)
Validity of certificate: 1. Mandatory safety certification - none, annual audit to maintain validity (the following template) 2. Self discipline safety confirmation: 5 years 3. Supplier's self confirmation: without certificate, the confirmation will be valid forever Factory inspection requirements: compulsory safety certification requires first factory inspection and annual audit Certificate holder requirements: the mandatory safety certification must be factory certificate, and the other two types of certification can be licensed by factory / manufacturer / importer.
(2) EMC & RF certification( K C EMC and RF )
Ensure that the equipment can work normally in a certain electromagnetic environment, that is, the equipment should have certain electromagnetic immunity (EMS); Secondly, the electromagnetic interference generated by the equipment itself can not have a great impact on other electronic products, namely electromagnetic interference (EMI).
KC EMC and KC RF certification includes EMC test, radio frequency and telecommunication test. According to the requirements of the latest "radio wave law", the certification system can be divided into three categories according to the different levels of product harm to the radio environment
· Certification of conformity · Registration of compatibility · Interim of conformity
(3) Energy efficiency level (MEPs)
Energy efficiency rating label is an information label that indicates the performance indicators such as energy efficiency of products. The purpose is to provide necessary information for users and consumers to make purchase decisions, so as to guide and help consumers choose energy-efficient products.
Applicable product range
KC certification of the product range generally includes AC50 V to below 1000 V electrical products, in addition to In addition to the products that must obtain safety certification, self regulatory safety confirmation should be applied.

Application process
1. Customers prepare samples and submit data to testing agency 2. The testing agency submits samples and data to KTL / KTC for testing 3. KTL / KTC shall conduct safety test and issue KC test report after test 4. (if any) for safety certification, KTL / KTC needs to arrange factory inspection and conduct annual factory audit every year 5. KTL / KTC audit report and other application documents, issue KC certificate after no problem
Application materials
1. Related application form 2. Product label 3. Product manual (Korean version) 4. Parts list 5. List of derived models 6. Circuit diagram and layout 7. Parts certificate 8. Specifications of transformer, inductance, etc 9. CB certificate and report
