Introduction to FCC certification
The full name of FCC certification is Federal Communications Commission, and the Chinese is the Federal Communications Commission of the United States. FCC certification is also one of our more common electronic and electrical certifications. Established by COMMUNICATIONACT in 1934, it is an independent agency of the US government and is directly responsible to Congress. The FCC coordinates domestic and international communications by controlling radio broadcasting, television, telecommunications, satellites and cables. Involving more than 50 states in the United States, Colombia, and regions in the United States. In order to ensure the safety of radio and wire communication products related to life and property, the FCC's Engineering Technology Department is responsible for the technical support of the committee and is also responsible for equipment approval. Many radio application products, communication products and digital products require FCC approval to enter the US market.
The latest standard of FCC certification: FCC SDoC
The Federal Communications Commission FCC merged DoC and Verification into SDoC (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity) on November 2, 2017. SDoC certification will replace FCC Verification and DoC certification procedures. All devices that are applicable to FCC Verification and DoC certification procedures are SDoC certification procedures can be adopted.
FCC SDoC's latest policy has taken effect on November 2, 2017, but there is still a one-year transition period. That is, before November 2, 2017, products that have been certified in accordance with FCC DoC and Verification can continue to be sold. The transition period is 1 year, and the deadline is November 2, 2018. The FCC VoC and DoC certification procedures made before the transition period are always valid, but if the product is modified, it needs to be re-certified.
Important changes in FCC SDoC certification:
The SDoC requires the applicant to provide the name, address, telephone and other contact information of the responsible party (responsible party) of the product in the United States. The responsible party can be the manufacturer or importer.
In the past, there were three certification methods for electronic products: Verification, DoC (Declaration of Conformity) and Certification, but now the latest FCCSDoC certification is more simplified and clearer than the previous procedures. Under the SDoC certification process, the FCC Logo is no longer a mandatory requirement. FCC SDoC certification The program allows the use of electronic labels and at the same time reduces cumbersome import declaration requirements.
For products that pass the FCC SDoC certification program, customers can choose to mark or not mark the FCC logo.
SDoC testing and certification may not be performed in FCCaccredited laboratories, but certification testing and certification still need to be performed in FCCaccredited laboratories.
For certification products, electronic screens will be allowed to display the FCC ID; if the product is too small to mark the FCC ID on the product, and there is no electronic screen to display the FCC ID, the FCC ID must be included in the user manual At the same time, it must be placed in the packaging of the product or pasted on the product with a removable label.
For products that are applicable to FCC Part 18, commercial industrial, scientific and medical products need to be certified by SDoC or Certification, commercial ultrasonic products (less than 500 watts and operating frequency less than 90kHz) and non-commercial industrial, scientific and medical products Products need to be certified by SDoC.
Radio application products, communication products, and digital products all require FCC certification to enter the US market.
Types of FCC certification
1. Self-verification
Manufacturers or importers ensure that their products have undergone the necessary testing to confirm that the products comply with relevant technical standards and retain testing reports. The FCC has the right to require manufacturers to submit equipment samples or product testing data. Devices suitable for self-verification include commercial computers, TV and FM receivers, and FCC Rule Part18 industrial, scientific, and medical equipment used by non-mass consumers.
2. Declaration of conformity
The equipment responsible party (generally the manufacturer or importer) tests the products at the qualified testing agency designated by the FCC to ensure that the equipment meets the relevant technical standards and retains the test report. The FCC has the right to require the responsible party to submit samples of the equipment or products Test data. The equipment applicable to the declaration of conformity includes home computers and peripherals, civil broadcast receivers, super-regenerative receivers, other receivers of FCC Rule Part 15, TV interface equipment, cable system terminal equipment, and industry used by mass consumers in Part 18 Scientific research and medical equipment. The responsible party shall make the following marks on the equipment.
3. ID authentication
The FCC reviews the samples (or photos) and test data submitted by the applicant, and if it meets the requirements of the FCC rules, it will authorize an FCC ID number for the device. Applicable equipment for certification includes low-power transmitters such as cordless phones, remote controls for automatic doors, radio remote control toys, and security alarm systems, Part15 devices that intentionally emit radio frequency energy, and Part18 industrial, scientific, and Medical equipment, automatic frequency conversion receivers and super-regenerative receivers, TV interface equipment, and home computers and their peripherals. The responsible party should make the FCC ID mark on the device.
FCC certification necessity
Products sold in the US market require mandatory FCC certification. Whether it is products produced in the United States or imported from other countries, they must undergo FCC certification testing, which is the same as my country’s 3c certification. In the products on the market in the United States, you can see that many electronic products have FCC certification marks. This is the conduction and radiation test of the product. It is of great significance in the American market. The FCC certification is the United States. Important passports and passes in the market, only this logo product can smoothly enter the American market.
