South Africa's independent communication authority (ICASA) is the regulator of South Africa's national broadcasting, communication and postal services. All wireless products must obtain ICASA certification before entering the South African market. For the wireless communication equipment exported to the South African market, it is necessary to contact the independent communications authority of South Africa (ICASA) It is also equivalent to applying for ICASA certification in South Africa. It should be noted that ICASA certification can only be issued to registered companies or representative organizations in South Africa. Therefore, it is better for domestic manufacturers to apply for ICASA by local importers, but the test can be completed in China.
Applicable product range
ICASA certification puts forward requirements on the technology and function of products, equipment safety and electromagnetic compatibility, which are mainly applicable to the following products: Large scale telecommunication system; Telecommunication network equipment; Wireless paging equipment; Digital enhanced radio telecommunication (DECT) equipment; Telecommunication system (GSM and DCS); Terrestrial voice broadcasting service signal transmitter; Commercial amateur wireless equipment; Cellular mobile phones and portable wireless devices; ADSL transceiver; ISDN; Maritime wireless equipment and services; Point to point digital fixed wireless system; Cordless telephone equipment.
Application process
1. Prepare the documents to be submitted, including application form, declaration of conformity, customs clearance letter (Loa) 2. Contact the local office in South Africa; 3. Submit license application form to ICASA; 4. Payment of certification fee;
5. Obtain type approval certificate.
Certification phase
The type approval and liensing process consists of the following three phases: Certification consists of the following three stages: 1、Testing of the performance in accordance with the applicable technical standards?? The performance of the test shall meet the applicable technical standards 2、Testing of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - both emission and immunity measurements?? EMC testing - EMI and EMS 3. Testing of safety Provisonal Type Approcal- Use of Equipment for Trial, Demonstration or research purpose on non-commercial basis Prerequisite for type approval - use of test equipment, demonstration or research for non-commercial purposes.
