Introduction to certification
In order to ensure the safe use of electrical appliances by the public, Argentina requires that the electrical products on the market must meet the corresponding requirements. Argentina issued a resolution on February 16, 1998 to establish a compulsory certification system to meet the minimum safety requirements for electrical products sold in the Argentine market. The implementation of the system is divided into three stages The first stage The certification of conformity at this stage is similar to the CE certification in Europe. All electrical products entering the Argentine market must have a certificate of conformity, which is commonly referred to as CE certificate. The second stage Type approval products need to be tested in IRAM accreditation laboratory to obtain the type approval certificate issued by IRAM. For type approval, only safety test is required, no Factory review is required, but no safety certification mark can be used on the product. The third stage Product certification at this stage, all products sold in Argentina must obtain the national certification mark. The "s" mark can be used for certified products. Argentina's certification is in transition to the third stage, that is, the product certification stage, and the type approval certificate can still be accepted in Argentina. But from 2001 to 2002, the product will gradually complete the transition to certification.
safety requirements
The agreement 197 / 2004 stipulates that S-Mark compulsory certification shall be implemented for electronic and electrical products, toys, personal protective articles, elevators, lighters, children's bicycles and steel equipment for construction with input voltage in the range of 50-1000 VAC or 50-1500 VDC. The protocol requires that the product must comply with IRAM or IEC standards. IRAM standards are mainly based on international standards (IEC and ISO). The manufacturer can attach Argentina s mark on the products that meet the standard. The product evaluation is carried out according to IEC standard plus Argentina difference or Argentina standard. In fact, most of the provisions of IEC standards have been adopted in the formulation of IRAM standards. Resolution 92 / 98 is implemented in several stages. Since December 1, 2003, mandatory safety requirements have been gradually set for different types of products.
